Offline use
Using an offline writing assistant on Mac
Learn what SuperSpeller can do without Wi-Fi, how local writing suggestions work, and when downloads or license checks need a connection.

Your suggestions are generated on your Mac
An offline writing assistant runs its language model on your device. SuperSpeller includes its model with the app and uses it for autocomplete, predictive text, and spelling suggestions. Your writing and generated suggestions are not sent to a cloud AI service.
This is useful when you are working on a train, on a flight, or with an unreliable connection. It also means local writing assistance can work from the first launch, after the installer has been downloaded. There is no separate model download or online account setup for the trial.
Prepare before going offline
- Download and install SuperSpeller while you have a connection.
- Complete the welcome tour and grant Accessibility access.
- Try suggestions in the exact app and document where you plan to write. The other app may have its own offline limitations.
- If you use a paid license, activate or verify it before leaving. Successful verification provides up to 30 days of offline license access.
The 7-day trial starts at first launch and works without signup or an internet connection. After it expires, typing assistance pauses until a license is activated. Downloading a trial does not make it an unlimited free app.
What still uses the internet
Downloading the app, obtaining software updates, buying a license, and activating or checking a paid license use the internet. Paid licenses are checked periodically when online. Reconnect before the offline license period ends to keep paid assistance available.
These connections are separate from generating your writing suggestions. A license check does not upload the text you are writing. The website’s analytics and support form are also separate from local text processing inside the Mac app.
Review your local context settings
SuperSpeller skips secure text fields. Optional writing history and learning are stored encrypted on your Mac and can be deleted in Settings. Clipboard context and screen context are separate controls; review them during setup so the app uses the context you intend.
Screen context uses local OCR and needs macOS Screen Recording permission. It can be switched off. Local processing does not remove the need to choose appropriate settings for the material you work with.
See the privacy policy for the full data-handling explanation and pricing for license details.
