Privacy policy

Your writing stays on your Mac. Here is how the app, website, and services around them handle information.

What this policy covers

SuperSpeller LLC operates the SuperSpeller Mac app and website. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean SuperSpeller LLC. Your writing runs through an AI model on your Mac. The app does not upload your writing or suggestions to a cloud AI service.

The website, purchases, support messages, and app license checks use online services. This policy explains the information those services receive, separately from the writing you process in the app.

Your writing and permissions

SuperSpeller uses macOS Accessibility permission to read supported text fields and insert suggestions. It holds the text needed for a suggestion in memory and skips secure fields, including password fields.

Screenshot context reads text from the focused app's visible window using recognition on your Mac. This setting starts on, but it only works after you grant Screen Recording permission. You can turn it off during setup or in Settings. Clipboard context starts off and only reads clipboard text when you enable it.

Clipboard and screenshot context stay in memory and are not uploaded. You can exclude apps and websites in Settings, pause SuperSpeller, or revoke its permissions in macOS System Settings.

History and data on your Mac

Writing history and learning start off. If you enable them, SuperSpeller saves limited writing samples, word counts, and accepted spelling corrections on your Mac. It filters samples for sensitive patterns before saving them, but you should still switch learning off for writing you do not want it to remember.

Saved learning is encrypted with a key held in your Mac's Keychain. You can forget individual entries, delete learning for an app or website, or delete all learning in Settings. Turning learning off stops new learning; use the deletion controls to remove what is already saved.

The app also keeps local usage counts and timing information. Its diagnostics record technical state and errors without including your writing, clipboard text, screenshots, prompts, or suggestions.

Licenses, payments, and updates

The free trial needs no signup or internet connection. The app stores its trial and license records in device-only Keychain storage. These records do not sync through iCloud and remain after writing-history deletion or an ordinary reinstall.

Lemon Squeezy handles checkout and payments. When you activate a license, the app sends Lemon Squeezy your license key and a randomly generated activation label, rather than your Mac's name or hardware identifier. Later checks and deactivation send the key and activation ID. These requests also expose connection information such as your IP address.

The app does not retain or log customer names and email addresses returned by the license service. Writing and context are never included in license requests. Lemon Squeezy handles purchase and payment information under its privacy policy.

Software update checks and downloads connect to our update hosting service. The host receives the requested address and connection information, including your IP address. You can manage update checks in the app.

Website analytics and cookies

Our website uses Google Analytics to measure visits and download clicks. Google receives information about the pages you visit, your browser and device, and your interaction with the site. It can set or read analytics cookies and receives your IP address as part of the connection. This website tracking does not give Google access to writing processed in the Mac app.

You can block or clear cookies in your browser and use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Cloudflare hosts the site and downloads. It processes connection and request information to deliver pages and protect the service. Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check for automated submissions and uses IP addresses to limit repeated requests. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Contacting support

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, selected topic, and message. Cloudflare's email service delivers the message to our support inbox. If you email us directly, we receive the information you include in that email.

We use your message to respond and investigate the issue you raise. Please do not send passwords, payment details, your full license key, or private writing that is not needed to explain the problem.

Support correspondence is held in our email systems. Purchase records and analytics data are held in the services described above, under their retention settings and legal requirements. Local learning remains on your Mac until you delete it. Contact us if you want to ask about, correct, or request deletion of information held outside the app.

Your privacy requests

You can contact us using the details below to request access to or correction of your personal information, ask for deletion, or raise a privacy complaint. Include enough detail to help us find the relevant correspondence or purchase, without sending sensitive information. We may need to verify that the request is yours.

Some records may need to remain to meet legal obligations or resolve a dispute. We cannot access or delete writing stored only on your Mac; use the app's Settings to manage it.

Our service providers may process online information in countries other than your own. Their linked policies explain their international processing and privacy practices. Your available privacy rights depend on the laws that apply to you; you can also raise concerns with your local privacy regulator.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our data practices change and revise the date above. Check this page for the policy that applies to the app and website.
