SuperSpeller vs Cotypist

SuperSpeller is an easy choice to try if you want local autocomplete without a subscription. For US$15.99, you get word completions, next-word prediction, and spelling help on two active Macs. Custom writing instructions are included.

Cotypist's paid plans renew monthly or annually. If you're looking for typing help you'll use regularly, SuperSpeller's one-time price is a good reason to start with its trial. You can check the suggestions in your own writing before paying.

A SuperSpeller license covers two active Macs. If you write on a laptop and a desktop, you can use your license on both. There isn't a higher subscription tier to choose for that second Mac.

Both apps require an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later. Cotypist Plus covers one Mac; Pro covers up to three Macs belonging to one person.

SuperSpeller combines suggestions for what to write next with corrections for words you've already typed. You choose what to accept in supported apps, and custom instructions let you guide the suggestions. Your writing stays on your device.

Cotypist also processes text locally. Paid SuperSpeller licenses need internet for activation and periodic checks. After a successful check, you can keep using your license offline for up to 30 days.

Cotypist Free includes 100 completed words a day, then suggestions taper off. Plus removes that limit and adds autocorrect and custom instructions. Pro adds larger models, clipboard context, and per-app instructions. All new installs include a 30-day Pro trial.

If you want autocomplete, spelling suggestions, and custom instructions in one purchase, give SuperSpeller a week with your usual writing. Compatibility varies by app, so use that time to check how it feels in the places you write most.
